Introduction to the Twinkle Project

By Sufen Wu, Co-Founder of FCSN

One day, I passed by Jeffrey, a non-verbal autistic young man, at the day program. He was deeply engrossed in his favorite activity: completing puzzles. As I observed him, I noticed the sparkle in his eyes as he carefully examined each piece with intense focus and excitement. Piece by piece, he skillfully placed them on the board, completing a 200-piece puzzle with astonishing precision.

I was amazed by his talent and began to wonder: Could there be hidden brilliance in others like Jeffrey, especially those often labeled as โ€œlow-functioningโ€? What untapped potential might we discover if we look closer? This inspired an ideaโ€”why donโ€™t we, as parents and caregivers, begin writing their stories, the stories of those whose voices often go unheard? These individuals are like stars in the night sky: some seem too distant to notice, while others shine so quietly that we fail to see them. But what if we could create a galaxy where every starโ€”every childโ€”has the chance to shine brightly and be recognized? Letโ€™s write a book together and illuminate their journeys.

Our Mission:

  • To celebrate the intrinsic value of every living being.
  • To uncover and nurture the potential within individuals with special needs.
  • To support individuals in discovering their unique abilities and empowering them to contribute meaningfully to the community.
  • To recognize and cherish even the faintest glimmers of light along the way.

At FCSN, we have a team of passionate volunteers ready to interview families who want to share their own โ€œstars.โ€ Through these stories, we aim to inspire our community by showcasing what individuals with special needs are capable of and how theyโ€™ve impacted their familiesโ€™ livesโ€”bringing both challenges and profound meaning.

Will you join us? Letโ€™s come together and shine a light on these incredible stories. Please contact our team if youโ€™re interested in being a part of the Twinkle project.
