FCSN 2023 Art Exhibition: Color Beyond Lines

On a sunlit afternoon, vibrant energy among FCSN families filled the air with joy and warmth. Laughter, chatters, and smiles were all around accompanied by music playing in the background by FCSNโ€™s talented musicians. Amidst this lively atmosphere, FCSN presented its 2nd art exhibition in 2023 following its first exhibition โ€“ Through Our Eyes โ€“ at the South Bay Center. The exhibition ran from August 25 to September 1 from 10am to 4pm with a special grand opening night on the first day with guest speakers, refreshments prepared by Friendsโ€™ coffee, and great turnouts with 183 guests, 50+ dedicated staff, and volunteers. Drama Camp Performs Another Exciting Play โ€œDespicable Me (With a Twist)โ€

Have you ever seen a play performed by children with special needs? Ms. Anna Wang, the founder of FCSN, created the FCSN drama camp for children with special needs 12 years ago. In the last 12 years, the drama camp has performed various themed shows, such as Zootopia, Cars, Finding Nemo, and many more. This year, the FCSN drama camp was held from July 26th to July 29th, revolving around the theme of โ€œDespicable Meโ€ and led by Camp and Play Directors Kelly Ko and Penny Sapkunmongkun. Crafting a New Future: Ravi Prabhune Starts Successful Woodworking & 3D Printing Class

After attending an FCSN-hosted event and noticing attendees working with crafts, rising senior Ravi Prabhune had the idea to use his knowledge of crafting and start a series of courses that teach students how to create their own projects through woodworking and 3D printing. Because this course series was Raviโ€™s original idea, he asked FCSN for permission and then his family for advice and how to approach the task. As the summer sun bathes the cozy Chenming & Margaret Hu Center in a warm glow, young artists gather around the palettes and paints, eager for another day of imagination and relaxation. Led by Mishika Agarwal, FCSNโ€™s Landscape Painting Class has become a cherished weekly event for both students and volunteers alike. With the first class launched on June 17th, the program takes place every Saturday and provides FCSN students an artistic sanctuary where they can explore the world of art and tell their stories through various mediums. Color Your World: Spotlight on FCSNโ€™s Cartoon Character Drawing Class

Art is a fantastic medium for students of all ages to develop their creativity and their imagination. The Cartoon Character Drawing Class, taught by Riley Xu, opens students to the possibilities of art. The students are taught to replicate their favorite cartoon characters through simple lines and shapes, paying attention to the details of their features. Through this class of around four to five students, they develop their attention to detail, their own unique art styles, and creativity, growing with the art skill needed to make their favorite characters from the film world their own outside of the classroom.
