Presidents’ Message

Dear FCSN Families and Friends,

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year! Time flies and FCSN has gone through another challenging but fruitful year 2023. We are grateful to update you that the new Osgood center, which will be the future FCSN headquarter, has completed its renovation construction work way ahead of original planned schedule. The Osgood committee and the building team did an excellent job to make it happen, but overall the accomplishments came from the support from every involved staff, volunteers, and construction professionals. FCSN will make announcements in early 2024 so everyone will know its opening and operation schedule.

As the Covid era gradually faded away we were glad to see things getting back to normal, the bi-weekly family gathering in Chenming & Margaret Hu center and south bay center have been running smoothly, most of day program clients able to reunite with their teachers and friends to receive in-person services, many FCSN volunteers used their time and wonderful talents supporting FCSN community. It is always a thrill to see your lovely faces at various occasions.

FCSN leadership team is excited to embrace 2024, the upcoming new Osgood center allows us to expand the programs to serve more children and clients, the initiatives of social recreation program and coordinated family support program shall take place with this new facility support. In 2024 FCSN will continue to strengthen its high needs services including high needs day program and high needs supported living services, even this is the area requires extensive resources with tremendous effort but FCSN made a bold commitment as we believe no one should be left behind.

FCSN started with ten families in 1996 and today we have grown to an well known non-profit organization with more than 1000 families members serving 200 plus children and 300 plus adult clients, our goal is not only serving more special needs individuals but also ensuring the quality of services. FCSN leadership team has defined a 5-year growth plan to address various challenges regarding staffing, high needs services, consumer coverage, and healthy finance. There will be headwind and uncertainty ahead of us but we are confident to execute the plan, as this is the only way to respond your support through all these years.

As much as we try to prepare for this growth, unfortunately we are still extremely short of staff. Over the past few years we have increased our salary and benefits a substantial amount, we need all sorts of talents to support our beloved special needs and we believe FCSN is the right place for you to dedicate your expertise and passion.
