FCSN is the CFS (Coordinated Family Support) service provider with SARC and RCEB and has started receiving referrals since February 2024. We are so excited to be able to provide this new service to the individuals and their families in need to carry on FCSN’s mission and vision.
This new service is focusing on the adult individuals who are residing at home with their parents/families. Often time in Asian families, parents tend to keep their adult child(ren) with developmental disability at home as long as possible. Even though they know there are some out-of-home living arrangements they can choose to put their adult child(ren) in there, the senior parents want to continue taking care of their children, disregard their own ages, and their own abilities, physically and mentally. Under this cultural perspective, CFS is a great program to assist the families to receive the services and resources they need, to keep their loved ones remain home with them, happily and safely.
Here are the 9 areas the CFS can help the individuals and the families:
1. Identifying and providing supports necessary for the individuals to successfully reside in the family home
2. Providing assistance and training in navigating comprehensive services and supports that are tailored to meet their unique need, including creating pathways to overcome barriers to accessing generic and other resources.
3. Providing additional information or resources on the individuals’ diagnosis and identified supports
4. Coordinating consistency in training across providers specific to the needs of the consumer and their family
5. Assisting with scheduling of service delivery including medical and other appointments
6. Identifying transportation options or services
7. Identifying backup providers/supports
8. Providing futures planning for the consumer, including those living with aging caregivers
9. Providing training to the consumer which maximizes their independence
“It takes a village to raise a child”. When it comes to raise the child(ren) with developmental disability, the parents need much more supports than other parents. After the developmental disable individuals enter the adulthood, the supports should continue and is crucial to stabilize the individuals’ life for the following decades. Let FCSN CFS service be your village, and to support you and your loves ones with a positive future without anxiety and uncertainty.
