In FCSN Voices’ 2021 GYVers campaign, we are proud to honor the graduating high school seniors who have contributed so much to the success of FCSN’s programs.
Monta Vista High School graduate Alicia Lou volunteered with FCSN during her high school years. Here is an account of her experience volunteering at FCSN.

“I started volunteering at FCSN when I was in 9th grade. Through helping the children, I was able to gain a lot of confidence and start teaching in front of people. The parents, students, and volunteers created a very welcoming environment and I got to make many new friends. Coming up with lesson plans with other fellow high schoolers was a lot of fun and making the children happy was the best thing we could ask for. I never experienced such joy before and this rewarding experience helped me realize my passion for teaching and helping others. These four years were definetly very valuable, and I hope the students had just as much fun as I did.”
In the future, Alicia plans on going to the University of Portland to study elementary education. We thank her for her contributions to FCSN and wish her luck in the future!
