2021 FCSN GYVer – Justin Liu

In FCSN Voices’ 2021 GYVers campaign, we are proud to honor the graduating high school seniors who have contributed so much to the success of FCSN’s programs.

Leigh High School graduate Justin Liu volunteered with FCSN during his high school years. Here is an account of his experience volunteering at FCSN.

“I joined FCSN the summer before freshman year, and I started off volunteering in the art and PE classes at the youth center in South Bay. It was a great experience watching the children here grow up and seeing their improvement in communication skills.
During the pandemic, my sister and I continued to volunteer by making art videos for the kids. With the help of other volunteers, we also started up math and science classes, and held them over Zoom. I’m passionate about helping the children in this community, and FCSN has given me the opportunity to integrate my hobbies with service. Working with these children has also given me a chance to improve my communication and teaching skills. Most importantly, this experience has allowed me to make meaningful contributions to the community.”

In the future, Justin plans on attending Harvard, where he will study economics or applied mathematics. We thank him for his contributions and wish him luck in the future!
